How Kidney Transplant is Performed​

Kidney transplant is a surgical procedure performed to replace a diseased or failing kidney with a healthy kidney from a donor. Common reasons for undergoing a kidney transplant include end-stage renal disease, chronic kidney failure, or certain kidney-related disorders. The most common techniques used in kidney transplant surgery include:

How it Works

During a kidney transplant, the diseased kidney is removed from the recipient’s body, and the healthy donor kidney is transplanted into its place.
